Join us for a very special retreat in Portugal
Six nights of Drift in Portugal: Based at THE GOOD PLACE CASA in Arrifana - we invite you to join us for a unique surf and yoga retreat: The triangle of good surf, good food and good yoga prevails plus we have added a reciprocity element. This is the intention to give back a little and there will be an option to visit an eco farm and / or spend half a day with Mossy Earth. Plus we will always offset the whole trip with SeaTrees Blue Carbon tokens for our guests.
About the retreat
Once surfing is involved, we know nourishing our body through food is vital. We’re stoked to be working alongside Rachel Weir, retreat chef and mum to Nomi; our friend and culinary inspiration, who has been catering for surf retreats in the Algarve for over 6 years. Known for her mindful, healthful mostly plant based cuisine”.
Rach will be preparing fresh lunches and dinners and there’ll be an afternoon snack, just in case hunger strikes. We cater to any and all dietary requirements - so just let us know yours.
Breakfast will be light and fruit will always be available. Lunch and dinner will be sharing platters so we can continue the community vibe, sharing waves and sustenance
arrifana
Arrifana is a small parish and fishing village in the Faro District's Aljezur Municipality in the Barlavento Algarvio region of Portugal. Embraced by cliffs, this seductive crescent-shaped cove 10km southwest of Aljezur has a small fishing harbour and an offshore pinnacle.
A GOOD PLACE
Our accommodation for Drift Portugal is our own personal surf villa, with five rooms, a pool and private yoga shala. We love the location of the villa - Vale de Telha - as we are 5 minutes walk from gorgeous clifftop views overlooking the Atlantic, and 20 minutes walk from a small complex of restaurants where you can find great coffee. The villa has everything you need to Drift Away and simply enjoy the specially curated activities and delicious food on offer.
We will have sole use of
Yoga shala
Communal areas including the breakfast and dining room with cosy fireplace, apero lounge and honesty bar
The sunlit veranda
The full garden space, which has plenty of corners to explore
Swimming pool
Fire pit area / BBQ area
The deluxe room is on the first floor and has its own ensuite bathroom.
There are two rooms on the first floor where there is one bathroom shared between the two rooms and another two rooms on the ground floor with shared bathroom (sharing with 1 other Drifter). Single occupancy available - send us an enquiry for the price. Email for brochure with more details and prices.
There are plenty of spots around the house to chill out, sun loungers in the garden, hammocks and cosy sofas curl up on
What we will be doing
Early morning meditation and practice, followed by a hearty and locally sourced breakfast, surf (options before / after breakfast - tide dependent) . Yoga practice daily with yoga Nidra to aid deep relaxation and good long sleeps. Delicious nutritious lunches - a National Park hike with delicious dinner options. The Retreat is limited to 10 spaces. Venture to the Costa Vicentina National Park in SW Portugal with us; a haven for wildlife, picturesque sunset spots and of course, waves!
This rugged coastline picks up plenty of Atlantic swell, but we’ll be next to one of the most sheltered spots on the West Coast - Praia da Arrifana - so there’ll be fun surf for all levels. During October you can find some of the best waves and weather this area has to offer and we’re excited to guide you to all the best spots with Nat as your host alongside the local surf team. We have designed the perfect retreat for you - 6 nights of all your favourite Drift activities.
We plan to surf every morning.

For intermediate surfers
We will surf close by unless conditions require travel and then we travel in a van with long time locals to the best nearby surf break for the best conditions of the day. We will be looking for mellow longboard waves. We will have the van available. We can travel towards Lisbon for more sheltered bays if the swell is big and go SUP paddle boarding if surf is flat. There is a possibiltiy of video analysis on one of the days. Not included but can be arranged (approx 10 euros per person)
For beginner surfers
We have teamed up with a local surf school for daily surf lessons at the best nearby break for surfing on the day. They will pick you up and give you a lesson including all equipment and return you to the Casa.
